What A Year!

Heading into the New Year we can’t help but look back on this past year. To say it’s been an exciting year for IntenseDebate is an understatement!

Our comment system has developed into a robust and sophisticated tool for building a community, increasing engagement, and giving sites a nice boost in page views. It couldn’t have happened without the non-stop effort of our team. Hats off to the entire team for the tremendous work that has gone into IntenseDebate!

More importantly, we’d like to thank you all for your continued support, alpha and beta testing, feedback, and for spreading the word about IntenseDebate. It goes without saying that IntenseDebate wouldn’t have even gotten off the ground without your help. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us make IntenseDebate what it is today. Infinite kudos to all of you!

So pop a bottle of champagne tonight and join us in toasting the New Year and all that’s to come in 2009!

We wish you all a happy New Year!

  1. I'm glad to have found IntenseDebate. At first I thought it was just going to be a deluxe update to my wordpress commenting system, but I was wrong. The communication between "The Fellas at IntenseDebate" have been one of the best in any service I've used. They take the time to listen and figure out a problem, and not just reply with some automated response or what not. Cheers for creating a great community that communicates well user-to-user, as well as the entire dev team.

  10. I like the new "receive email updates for this post" feature, but I don't want to get updates from my own posts. Think you guys can work on that?

  13. Happy new year and a big "thanks" for this service. I just discovered it today and I love it. I have one question though, so I figured I'd just try and ask it: Do you guys plan to offer the option to switch the menu and so on to other languages?

    Comment by Thee — January 1, 2009 @ 10:03 am
  14. We'll have language support in the future. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  20. Let me say something controversial. I suggest Obama postpone the individual tax cuts and focus on jobs. The individual tax cuts didn't work when Bush did them.

  25. Sorry to say that I have deactivated Intense Debate for now on my WordPress blog.

Lots of issues that can be better addressed by changing my theme to take advantage of ver 2.7 features.

I will keep watching and and may reactivate at some time in the future. Happy New Year from NZ.

  27. Intensedebate looks cool and all but it has just too many cons.
    – No option to change the language
    – Too many "login to comment" links, makes people think that they actually need to login to comment, and thus we are getting less comments than before.
    – The "sign up for IntenseDebate" is completely unneeded, you guys already have a link back to you. This kind of stuff just drive people away from our comments section.
    – No option to make the e-mail optional
    – The subscribe links are good for people that don't really have them and don't know how to add them. The rest of us signed up for a comment form, We should have the option to activate them or not.
    – No option to allow non IntenseDebate members to vote comments.

Again, IntenseDebate looks great. To actually be great too, you need to give us at least some control.

  31. I wish you guys would install intense debate on http://www.WhiteHouse.gov, since I did see it enabled on 1 blog post from http://www.Change.gov. Do you know if the white house is going to enable blog commenting on their site by chance? 🙂

    Thanks kindly,

    Shawn

  36. Hi all great app but I have a problem. I use WP WALL on my blog which uses its own page for all comments. The trouble is comment within this page needs to be disabled or all the WALL comments won’t show. Is there a way for me to disable the Intensabate plug-in for a particular page?

    Comment by themarkettrend — January 28, 2009 @ 12:55 pm
  37. Yeah I've already had complaints about the big "Login to Comment" button. We could also use an option that allows us to put the comment form on top rather than on the bottom.

  40. I know I am way late, but I recently discovered Intense debate, and I just love the rating feature. And that I can post on many blogs without creating an account on each one. Interesting thing, was I googled "intense debate blogs" and this one came right up at the top…
