What features do you want?

We’re trying some new things on our end, and we’d like to get you in on it. As we continue to optimize our backend and UI, we’d like to get your feedback on what you’d like to see in IntenseDebate. We value your opinion and we want to develop features that you want, so let us know (it’s so much easier than guessing!). 😉

We will be announcing Facebook Connect integration shortly (we’re ironing out FBC & Safari 4 integration), so please don’t request it because it’s right around the corner.

We’ve put together a PollDaddy survey and we’d love it if you took a minute to give us some feedback. Many thanks!

Take the survey!

  8. Fix the outstanding bugs before working on new features. AFAIK the final fix was never pushed for this one yet.

    As for ideas

    1. Make the avatar link to the user's blog instead of their ID profile page
    2. Redesign the reputation and Allow site-specific reputation
    3. Allow deep threads to continue on a new page

  9. Somehow your links got garbled. We're taking a look at this. Thanks.

  10. Btw, since we're talking about bugs, I didn't receive any email about your replies to my comments either.

    Comment by db0 — June 20, 2009 @ 8:48 pm
  11. Wow, I guess I'm not that picky. I love your ideas. Only thing I could come up with was seo enhancements (custom cms) so I can get the seo department off my back.

  12. Amen to that. Bollocks to new features – make the system work right before adding new things. My site frequently suffers from stupidly slow load times while the status bar shows 'Waiting on intensedebate.com' – making the site nearly unreachable – an issue verified by engineers at Rackspace.com. A BIG issue that is.
Also, your sidebar widget for WordPress loads incredibly slowly even at the best of times, and updates at a snail's pace – as in ,new comments often take from 10-60 minutes to appear.
All of this is crap performance.
Fix that. Then think about new features.
How effin simple is that as a concept? So frustrating 😦

    Comment by db0 — June 19, 2009 @ 11:18 am
  15. Your comment was flagged as spam due to the # of links it contained. We have a max of 2. It's approved and displayed above. Thanks.

  16. See? This is why moderation needs to be shown clearer 😉

  17. testing.

  18. Definitely not. I'm taking a look to see if there's an additional comment in our db that isn't being displayed.

  19. I'm currently creating a website & would love to install the Intense Debates javascript in the custom CMS back-end we're building. It seems that I need to grab javascript for each article that I post which could be pretty painful – is there a way around this? Does this option already exist & I'm missing it, or is it on a wishlist? Thanks!!

    Comment by Gale — June 19, 2009 @ 5:59 pm
  20. DONE! Obviously love the service. Here are a couple of my suggestions.

    1) Would like the option to require folks to supply their email. Hey if someone doesn't want to signup for ID (sniff) , fine with me…but you need to have a valid email for the privilege of leaving a comment on my site.
    2) Allow admins to randomize the avatar pics of those that don't pick one (like Wavatars, Monstertars, etc). This will encourage folks to get off their butts and pick one!
    3) BBPress integration (I know its far off, but my fingers are crossed!)

  23. For some reason when I select the large format avatar setting, the pictures get blurred to the point where there is no point. Hi Res LARGE avatars please for those who want them.

    Thanks.

  26. How about a tool to translate into any language like Polldaddy?

  27. Why was my earlier comment deleted? It was one complaining about a drive for more features when you clearly have several major things that do not work on your existing system. Here its is again:

  30. Make comments editable! It's a real downer to go from wordpress where you have full control to a blogger-like system that doesn't trust the blog owner.

    Comment by blakekr — June 26, 2009 @ 3:15 pm
  31. It would be great if you could work with the folks over at WordPress.com to get them to add a widget for WordPress.com users.

    Thanks!

  32. Facebook connect seems to go bonkers, shows a blank page, on a blog (custom cms). I'm assuming this could also be because of the base tag in the head of the page.

    Comment by Jon Karna — June 29, 2009 @ 4:13 pm
  33. base tag isn't the problem…

    Comment by Jon Karna — June 29, 2009 @ 7:56 pm
  34. Jon, can you provide a link to this? Also what web browser are you encountering this with? Thanks

    Comment by Michael Koenig — July 2, 2009 @ 4:36 pm
  35. I can't leave this on my companies blog, sorry. I had this happen in both firefox and chrome. This error is weird because the web page comes up, but then it just goes white. The url is the same, but then it goes to white.

    Comment by Jon Karna — July 2, 2009 @ 5:08 pm
  36. Jon, could you reinstall and deactivate Facebook Connect to see if that corrects the issue?

    Comment by Michael Koenig — July 2, 2009 @ 5:17 pm
  37. I didn't leave facebook connect activated when the white screen initially happened on Monday. Deactivating did solve the problem

  38. Re-enabled this just now and it is working. Thanks! xD

  39. I'm having a problem with login to Intense Debate on a blog (custom cms). It seems that having the base tag in the head of the page messes this up and sends the user to the base url with #idc-container tacked on the end.

I understand why this is, but I have no way to combat this since I need that base tag for enabling ses urls in mach-ii for coldfusion.

  40. We're working on a fix for this and will have it in the next day or so. Thanks for your patience.
