IntenseDebate Comments now with Facebook Connect!
Facebook Connect integration for your IntenseDebate comment section is now up, running, and open for business! We’ve worked with the Facebook team to tighten up the integration and make it as slick as possible in true IntenseDebate style.
To enable Facebook Connect in your IntenseDebate comment section please visit your blog Settings page in your IntenseDebate account at http://intensedebate.com/edit-site-comments. Please follow the instructions and you’ll be all set!
We have also added the option to share your comments on Facebook. Please see http://wp.me/plsX6-qD for more details. And don’t forget to check out Twitter Sign-in for your comments.
If you haven’t given IntenseDebate a try yet, there’s no better time than now! Get started with IntenseDebate.

There they are!
did you get my email about my stats on my account?
I'm surprised it took this long, but I'm glad it's now available. Nice work!

I think you meant to post your comment here.
LOL
Next up: Google Friend Connect? 🙂
Yep. We're working on it. 🙂
I guess this should be great. Now I'm commenting using my facebook profile!
Great add!
Congratulations, I know this is something you've been working hard on for a long time.
One point I would make, though, is that it might be a good idea to show the Facebook option not only below the comments but also above, alongside the first IntenseDebate Login logo. The whole point of having FB integration is that it will encourage people to comment who might not otherwise comment. Therefore, the FB Connect button should appear anywhere the ID Login button does.
Interesting. We've currently got a customization project underway to give you the ability to decide which components you want to include in your comment section (login at the top, RSS, voting, OpenID, etc.).
Once the first phase of that is complete, the next possible step could be customizing the placement of these different components. That is definitely a bit more challenging though. This project is pretty young at the moment, so the first phase is weeks/month away at least.
Where is the "Post comment to my Facebook Profile" check box??
UP!
Alright, dumb Facebook connect setup question. We can use the same Facebook API key for multiple blogs running IntenseDebate, right?
I don't think you can from memory Chris. I believe the way that Facebook's API works requires that you register a different API key for each URL (unless perhaps they're all hosted under the same domain?). I've never tried though, so don't know for 100% certain 😉
The whole point of having FB integration is that it will encourage people to comment who might not otherwise comment.

does my authority increase using facebook connect?
Unfortunately your Facebook and IntenseDebate accounts are not linked so comments made using Facebook connect will not be counted towards your reputation score.
Hmm, this does seem to be an issue. Is it possible for you to integrate FB Connect via ID directly, associating a FB identity with an ID account in the same way that one can currently use an OpenID? And how about doing the same thing with Twitter? Really in the long run, all these identities have to get unified somehow and persist for any kind of real reputation system to work.
That's the goal Zane, we've just got to figure out how to do it with the info that's made available from Facebook. That presents the main challenge at the moment. With that in mind, there's no ETA on this, but it is something that we're looking at.
Will be interested to see just how difficult (or easy) FB chooses to make that implementation process. Good luck!
Thanks!
it seems to work properly. i'm confused now… disqus or intense debate for my blog? eheh
IntenseDebate FTW!
If your blog is running WordPress, it's a no-brainer: IntenseDebate.
They are by the same company, Automattic!
FB connect rules!
Is there a plan to post comments on Facebook newsfeed when commenting on a blog? Isn't the idea of FB Connect to a) Login with FB login and b) Comment in Newsfedd? I'd love to have that feature …
We're looking into this. No ETA at the moment.

i've tried for this, however, it appears error when i send comments with facebook account, why was that? (i can log in my facebook account at comment post.)
Hi Noid – what error do you get? One common one people see is that they set up their Facebook Application with http://www.website.com/ but then when they post a comment, it's on http://website.com (no www.). Facebook doesn't allow that, so you will get an error.
it's solved already. i think it took a few hours to let it get access to facebook.
thanks anyway
Looks nice, facebook , pool of users, easy comment system.

Just responded to your other comment, but this might be helpful to other users.
For Facebook Connect, please make sure your Connect URL and Base Domain are configured properly in your Facebook Application. It should be:
Connect URL: http://loudandpesky.publr.com
Base Domain: loudandpesky.publr.com
If you're still encountering issues, let me know what web browser and version you're using, and please leave Facebook Connect enabled so I can check it out. Thanks.
