Coming Soon to an IntenseDebate Comment Section Near You

We have a number of super-cool projects going on here at IntenseDebate, and we thought we’d give you a sneak-peek at what’s around the corner.

Localization
There is no question about it – localization is by far the most requested feature. We make a habit of listening to our users, and internationalization is almost here! If all goes according to plan, we will be ready to start rounding up multilingual folks to help us translate the IntenseDebate comments section (the bit that appears on your website) within a few weeks. Keep your eyes peeled on this blog for a call for volunteers.

Admin Comment Editing
Again, ask and yee shall receive. We’re in the final stages of testing a new feature that will allow you (if you’re a site admin of course) to edit the details of all comments on all posts on your site. No more letting your users run wild, unless you’re into that sort of thing.

WordPress Plugin Innovations: SyncRepair
One last tidbit that you may have heard on the support forums or around the place; we’re in the final stages of testing our sexy new self-healing comment sync, a.k.a, SyncRepair. SyncRepair looks for discrepancies between the comments stored in your IntenseDebate account and those stored in WordPress. If it finds anything that doesn’t look right, it’ll re-sync those comments and get you back in good shape.

This is only the tip of the iceberg! We’re working on our opus. Details to come…

What do you think? We love your feedback.

New IntenseDebate Plugin – TweetMeme!

We’re excited to introduce a new IntenseDebate Plugin: TweetMeme retweet button for your posts!

What’s TweetMeme?TweetMeme retweet button

The TweetMeme retweet button is for website and blog publishers who want to encourage their audience to tweet their content on twitter.

The button shows a live count of the number of times your webpage or blog post has been tweeted.

Now you can install the TweetMeme retweet button with one click through your IntenseDebate Plugins page.

We’re pumped to offer new ways to enrich your blog with additional third party services, with just a simple click of your mouse.  As is the case with other IntenseDebate plugins, like AddToAny Share Buttons, there’s no need to mess around with any code in your template.  We do it for you.  All you have to do is activate it!

Make sure you check out our other Plugins: PollDaddy polls, Seesmic video comments, YouTube, and Smileys.  Learn more about our Plugins and Plugins API.

Many kudos to Dog Lover for their excellent work on the TweetMeme Plugin!  Thank you for your contribution.

New Customization Options

Well, it looks like we might have overdone it a bit and built in too many awesome features. We remembered that sometimes simple is better. With that in mind, we’re proud to introduce an array of new customization options for your comment section.

If you visit your blog account at IntenseDebate.com you’ll notice a shiny new “Customize” tab. Now you can choose which specific components you want to display in your comment section including, the Login Button at the top right, the RSS tab, OpenID, and comment voting (to name a few). So if you’re going for a clean and simple comment section, you can whittle IntenseDebate down to the basics.

We’re interested in your feedback! What else would you like to be able to remove?

Please note: we’re aware of the demand for localization – it’s something that we’re working on, so there’s no need to request it.

If you’re not hip yet and haven’t given IntenseDebate a try, then what are you waiting for? Get started already!

Even More New Admin Additions!

When you’re on a roll, you’re on a roll!  We’ve got two new admin features to introduce today: Ban Users & View Deleted Comments.

Banning Users
This just got a whole lot easier. If you recall, before you could only ban users from the moderation page when their comments were flagged. Take a look at your blog Settings page in your IntenseDebate profile. At the bottom right there’s a brand new section where you can input a username to ban that user from commenting. We think you’ll agree: this is a big improvement from having to either ban the user by email, IP, or add their username as a keyword.

View Deleted Comments
Until now deleted comments were gone forever! Now you can view all comments that have been deleted from your blog. This will come in handy if you’ve got an itchy trigger finger and tend to delete comments by accident. Now you can undelete them! Check out your Moderation page and you’ll see a shiny new Deleted Comments tab. This tab includes all comments that hit your blacklists in addition to comments that you deleted.

We’ve got some more cool projects in the works, so if you haven’t given IntenseDebate a try yet, there’s no better time than now! Get started with IntenseDebate.
